Project Mori
Project Background
Why we chose Mori
We chose Mori as the location for HHIs clinic because:
- Mori is in a central location in uttarakhand surrounded by villages that we could serve
- Mori is at an optimal height given the altitude of the surrounding area
- Mori had good access to electricity, water, internet connectivity, transport and communications infrastructure
- We had good relationship with NGOs on the ground in Uttarakhand (SRADHA) Mori is sufficiently remote to have limited access to medical facilities
- Survey has been conducted that was delivered to households throughout Mori and the surrounding villages. The analysis is in progress to determine what service are required and areas that the local population would value improvement in. We hope this will reaffirm our maternal and infant focus and support of publich health education efforts.
The clinic in Kharsadi was opened in May 2022. The clinic is offering free medical care to Mothers and children at different stages of the pregnancy cycle. We are providing simple over the counter medicines free of charge such as folic acid, multi-vitamins and pain relief medications as part of our clinic.
UK doctors are providing telemedicine support to our nurses when necessary. We also will refer patients to appropriate health care facilities in the region who require higher level of care than what we can provide. We have MOU with local secondary care centres who will accept our patients.
Who does this for us?
The clinic is run by two onsite ANM nurses who are assisted by a support worker & doctors both in the UK and India.
- 2 ANM nurses
- 1 Pharmacists
- 1 Admin Person
- 1 Manager
